Lekker Kayaks was founded in 2024 by Celliers Kruger — a mechanical engineer and expedition paddler who has spent more than 30 years designing paddling craft. He previously founded Fluid Kayaks and Vagabond Kayaks, and to date has manufactured over 40,000 kayaks across three factories.

Every Lekker hull, deck, and hardware decision comes from Celliers personally. Production runs through specialist manufacturing partners with long-term relationships — not race-to-bottom OEMs. Every model is tested on multiday expeditions before it ships.

Have the best day ever

Lekker is Afrikaans for pleasant, lovely, excellent. The brand motto — "Have the best day ever" — honours the legacy of expedition paddler Hendri Coetzee, who lived that phrase on every river he paddled. It's the standard we hold every Lekker boat to: did this paddler have the best possible day on the water because of the boat under them?

Now in the US

Until recently, Lekker kayaks were only available in South Africa and Europe. Limited inventory now ships from a US warehouse in Reno, Nevada — flat-rate shipping continent-wide.
